Big brands are benefitting from content marketing. Are you?

I said this to someone the other day. The reaction? ‘Content marketing? Is that something else I’ve got to worry about? I’ve also just recently started a Facebook page and I’m told I need Twitter and Google +, Pinterest and a whole bunch of other things. Now I have to worry about content marketing too? Are my competitors using it, whatever it is?”

Probably. And if they’re not now, they soon will be. When large companies start using newer marketing methods, it eventually filters down to small businesses – IF they have the ability, that is.

You can make the most of content marketing in two ways, the easy way and the hard (almost impossible) way. The easy way, of course, is to use Team Las Olas! If you want to go it alone, (you don’t, I promise) all you have to do is this:

  • Create a website specifically for your content. This can be a blog on the back of your existing site, if you wish
  • Make sure that it gets the attention of search engines
  • Make sure that it’s fully-featured and naturally, clean, tidy and beautiful
  • Write great articles that will keep your readers coming back daily to see your latest news
  • Accompany these with great photography so that they get attention on visual social media such as Pinterest

There. That was easy, wasn’t it? Now you have to maximize your content by posting every article you right to social media and I suggest the following.

  • Twitter
  • Pinterest
  • Facebook
  • Google +
  • Rebelmouse
Also:
  • Create an online paper and curate it daily
  • Select a good curation service
  • Create a Twylah website
  • Select a digest service
  • Select a newsletter roundup service
For all these, you will need to:
  • Create suitable graphics
  • Create icons of various sizes
  • Write bios
  • Create gorgeous backgrounds
And most importantly, get followers, fans and subscribers. Then all you have to do every day is:
  • Write an article or two. Make sure you pay great attention to keywords and titles
  • Check that your articles are in search engines
  • Curate your online paper, tweet it and inform subscribers
  • Add your daily article to all your social media accounts – yes, all
  • Check and curate all your services
  • Constantly monitor Twitter, Facebook, Google+ and Pinterest for comments and questions
  • Monitor your website statistics to see what your visitors are doing and where they are going on your site
There’s a lot more, but you’ll get the hang of it after ten years or so. Oh, just use Team Las Olas!
