Crowd sourcing and crowd funding – how often have you heard these words? They are current buzz words that you’re probably hearing all the time. So let’s look at what they mean exactly – particularly as they relate to the Team Las Olas community.
‘Community’ is what it’s all about. Our marketing system is for and from the community. In other words ‘the crowd’. It benefits all – local businesses, residents, local organizations, visitors, event organizers, service providers – and more. Everyone wins. Our content marketing is drawn from the community – the crowd.
By the same token, Team Las Olas is crowd funded – paid for by the community. But here’s where it’s different – Team Las Olas isn’t funded by any official body or organization. When organizations become involved they feel that this gives them an element of control. When this happens, the community loses out. The organization, by its very existence, demands a certain bias. We want to keep our site for the community and avoid that bias.
How does the community fund the site? As you know, subsequent articles after your free one cost a very reasonable $50. That’s pretty amazing when you think about all the people who see your article on our site and in our huge social media network? Why so cheap? Because of the community, once again. We don’t want to have a situation where only the large, wealthy companies and organizations can benefit – our services are for anyone in the community, irrespective of advertising budget.
Also anyone – local resident, business, organization, vacationer, attraction – can make a donation towards the upkeep and running of our popular site and its huge social network. How much? If you’d like to donate just $5 to thank us for our work, that great. If you’d like to donate $5000 then that’s super-coolio-stupendously great. Look out for the ‘donate’ buttons on our website. And, in advance, thank you.
